Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier SLT Mod Full Pack

The brutal, grinding, kidney stone-shattering Dual Rectifier tone at its finest.

The Slightly Technical ToneXamplifier captures are tone models of amps that are unique in manyways. Some are from my personal collection, while others belong to myfriends or clients. All the amplifiers have been modified or tweakedby me to achieve unique tonal qualities. These tone models are directinput (DI) captures of amps and are intended to be used with variousIRs. The profiles available are just examples of how the tone can bedesigned, but I strongly advise exploring the raw Tone Models anddesigning your own unique presets.

This is a collection of presets that capture snapshots of a very special 3-channel Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier (the so-called Multiwatt). This amplifier was brought to me by a friend and guitar player from the band Ground Zero. He originally wanted it modded and given a touch of Slightly Technical’s “magic dust.” It ended up becoming my favorite Rectifier.

The modifications to this amp primarily enhance its feel, without deviating from the signature “Dual Rectifier” tone. The result is an absolute gain monster that makes you feel like the king of the mountain when you play it. It wasn’t designed for “more gain” or anything like that—rather, it’s a voicing and response enhancement. At its core, it still delivers the unmistakable Dual Rectifier sound.

In my opinion, this is the most complete collection of tone models of a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier available. Not only were the models sampled through my rather special re-amping system, but the pack also features 28 different tone models.

A very thorough modeling process was applied to all channels of the amplifier, capturing different voicings and switch settings. Additionally, the pack includes models of various channel settings boosted with different pedals. Some of the pedals used for boosting and shaping the tones include the SLT Wailer, a Boss GE-7 EQ, an SLT SD-1, and a J. Rockett Archer. Each model represents a carefully selected sweet spot for the specific boost, channel, and switch combination engaged at that moment. With this pack, you're equipped with everything from pristine cleans to hard-hitting, heavy tones.

Most of the models were captured in Diode (Silicon) Rectifier mode unless specified otherwise in the preset description and/or comments. Naturally, the Tube Rectifier (Spongy) mode was engaged for certain characteristic tones of this amplifier.

The pack also includes my favorite IR of a Mesa Oversized Cab, the matching cab used to fine-tune all of these presets.
