The Slightly Technical ToneXamplifier captures are tone models of amps that are unique in manyways. Some are from my personal collection, while others belong to myfriends or clients. All the amplifiers have been modified or tweakedby me to achieve unique tonal qualities. These tone models are directinput (DI) captures of amps and are intended to be used with variousIRs. The profiles available are just examples of how the tone can bedesigned, but I strongly advise exploring the raw Tone Models anddesigning your own unique presets.

This is free profile from a collection of presets that capture a rather special amplifier. It started its life as the ENGL Sovereign 100 — one of the earliest combo amps produced by the German company ENGL. This bulky 6L6 beast was removed from its original combo box and modified into a rather ugly head. After purchasing it, I built a new enclosure and left it unfinished — aesthetically.

Quite a few mods have been done to this amp, including rewinding the power transformer and making some interesting reworks of the preamplifier and power amp sections. I’ve always found ENGLs to be quite heavy on the low end in the input stages, so I modified this one to my liking. It’s a grinding beast, this one!

This pack features 27 finished presets made out of 20 tone models of this amplifier, covering nearly all channels and switches, with each combination tailored to its sweet spot.

It offers various gain levels, from pristine cleans to raw crunchy tones, and third-channel grinding metal tones. Many of these are further enhanced with different pedals, including the J Rockett Archer, SLT Wailer, SLT Distortion+, and SLT SD-1. You’ll even find some fuzz tones featuring the SLT Knee Bender MKIII.

The pack also includes my favorite IR of a Mesa Oversized Cab, but I definitely encourage you to try these captures with other IRs of your choice!
