Classics 5 - Marshall Shredmaster

The classic Marshall circuit, sampled, and ready to rock!

The Slightly Technical ToneX captures are tone models of gear from my personal collection. These amplifiers and pedals are not commercially available and are either original designs, designs inspired by famous units, or uniquely modified pieces of equipment. Each piece of gear was crafted with carefully selected components, meticulously measured, and calibrated to achieve the desired tonal qualities.

Unlike the pedals in my collection, this is an all-stock vintage Marshall Shredmaster. It is a legendary circuit—one that many love and many hate, as is the case with most guitar pedals. This particular unit also has some history, having been used by famous musicians before eventually ending up on my desk in my workshop.

It is a fantastic-sounding dirt box, capable of everything from a crunchy boost to fluid, sustaining distortion. It features a three-band equalizer with a unique Contour control, which essentially functions as a fixed midrange control, shaping the sound from mid-boosted to fully scooped voicings.

This collection includes eight different Tone Models. Since this pedal has many potentiometers, the models were sampled at sweet spot settings, with the goal of capturing a range of voicings to cover the full spectrum of sounds it offers. The specific settings are listed in the preset descriptions.
