Classics 4 - Nobels Overdrive

The Nashville session man's go-to stompbox—just with a touch of magic dust sprinkled over it.

The Slightly Technical ToneX captures are tone models of gear from my personal collection. These amplifiers and pedals are not commercially available and are either original designs, designs inspired by famous units, or uniquely modified pieces of equipment. Each piece of gear was crafted with carefully selected components, meticulously measured, and calibrated to achieve the desired tonal qualities.

This pedal made its huge comeback, probably when Tom Bukovac called it the best drive pedal ever in a YouTube video. Before that, it was likely considered junk. The truth is, it is a very interesting circuit that does not sound like anything else. And it is nothing like a Tube Screamer.

The Nobels Overdrive is my take on the Nobels ODR-1, with minor tweaks to make it a bit more open and dynamic, along with the addition of a Depth control. This one is built on an Aion FX PCB, which was the perfect platform for a circuit like this, making it easy to apply the minimal mods I made. I especially love this pedal in combination with Fender amps. It is just an amazing bluesy, full-range overdrive pedal.

This collection includes 10 different Tone Models. Since this pedal has many potentiometers, the sampled Tone Models capture its best voicings—ideal starting points for fine-tuning with the ToneX tone controls. All pedal settings are listed in the preset descriptions.
